CGM patches for sensitive skin

No Sugar Wear Launches to Help Kids Live with Diabetes in Style

Sydney, Australia, November 14, 2024 – When young Australian Josh Faulkner, 14, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes earlier this year, knowing his life would be changed forever came as a shock. Not only did he have to adapt to a new lifestyle, but having to wear a Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensor every day made everyday activities awkward and uncomfortable.

But rather than settle, Josh got to work and began working on designer patches to cover his Libre Freestyle sensor and protect it. And with the patches designed to fit his style, he was able to show others that they too could live with diabetes.

To coincide with World Diabetes Day, Josh has decided to help others in his situation by launching No Sugar Wear.

No Sugar Wear is a designer of fashionable CGM sensor patches which combine functionality with fashion, offering a range of edgy designs that let those with diabetes express their personal style while managing their health. The patches cleanly and securely cover and protect the CGM's sensor, allowing the wearer to do the activities they’ve always done – even swimming.

“Before my diagnosis, I didn’t really know much about diabetes or how it would affect my daily life,” he said. “Since then, I’ve continued to be super active and I’ve found that having a patch over my sensor makes me feel way more comfortable, especially when I’m playing sports.

“However, finding affordable patches that matched my style was a real struggle. That’s why I created No Sugar Wear. I wanted to design patches that are not only practical but also look cool and fit who you are.”

No Sugar Wear launches with multiple designer waterproof patches that are latex free and made with medical-grade adhesive. Designed with comfort and style in mind, the patches can be worn for anywhere between 4-7 days at a time, with replacements affordable and shipped direct to the door.

According to recent report from  Diabetes Australia, there are now approximately 1.5 million Australians – about 5.6 per cent of the population – living with all types of diagnosed diabetes; an increase of 32 per cent in the decade to 2023.

“Diabetes can affect anyone, and with guidance and help there are ways to live with it,” said Josh. “It requires a commitment to self-care, a healthy diet, taking medication and staying active.

“I hope that No Sugar Wear helps kids my age living with diabetes get out there and show the world that they’re still able to do the things they want to do.”
